Exiled on Vulcan, Kirk makes a plan to return to Earth and stand trial for stealing the Enterprise, nearly starting a war with the Klingons, and disobey the orders of a superior officer! As luck would have it, on their way (ahem) voyage home, the crew of the H.M.S. Bounty intercepts a distress call from Earth apparently under attack from a giant probe. Spock hatches a plan to communicate with the alien probe using a pair of extinct humpback whales. So, where are they to find some extinct whales? 1986.
Directed by Leonard Nimoy, Star Trek IV: The Voyage, Home wraps up the Project Genesis trilogy with the most financially successful film of The Original Series motion pictures. Its success is credited with Paramount’s decision to move forward with a new series titles Star Trek: The Next Generation.
