Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (SNW) follows the adventures of Captain Christopher Pike and the crew of the Federation Starship Enterprise. The show was announced on May 15, 2020- a bit of bright news during the worldwide coronavirus pandemic- and is intended to be a return to classic Star Trek storytelling, where each episode is a largely self-contained story, and leaves the serialization to that of individual character arcs.
All episodes are listed for each season. Each episode is indicated with either a “W” for watch or an “S” for skip. Like its sister show, Star Trek: Discovery, this series has no rhyme or reason for its star dates, so they are listed in air-date order, much to my chagrin. I can only hope that at some point the writer’s room will come to their senses on this- it’s not cute, and it’s not logical. Eventually, each title will link to a post that explains the reasoning for seeing or skipping an episode.
Lastly, episodes marked as “essential” are indicated by an * in the “Ep. No.” column. Essential episodes are selected on a number of factors, including character development, other canon connections, and cultural impact. In other words, these often are the best of the best of each season.
