Star Trek: Scouts is the second series of Star Trek shorts, which premiered on YouTube on 8 September 2025 under the Nick Jr. banner from Nickelodeon. Scouts (SCT) is the first series aimed at the preschool audience and follows JR, Roo and Sprocket, three eight-year-olds, as they train to be the future of Starfleet in three- to four-minute webisodes.
Based on what has aired so far, it isn’t easy to see how this fits into the existing universe of series and movies. My best explanation is that these three are friends playing make-believe in a holodeck on some Federation colony while their parents are off working in Starfleet. Hopefully, these short stories will improve as the series progresses and lean a bit more into the philosophy of Star Trek; however, they seem bubbly and frenetic enough to engage this new audience.
All episodes are listed for each season. Each episode is indicated with either a “W” for watch or an “S” for skip. I also opted to order my viewing in “chronological order,” as best determined by the episode’s initial stardate. If there isn’t a stardate, I placed it where it made the most sense relative to the other episodes. Eventually, each title will link to a post that explains why to watch or skip an episode.
Lastly, episodes marked as “essential” are indicated by an * in the “Ep. No.” column. Essential episodes are selected on several factors, including character development, other canon connections, and cultural impact. In other words, these are often the best of the best of each season.
