The USS Excelsior, under the command of Captain Sulu witnesses the explosion of the Klingon moon Praxis. Spock, at his father’s behest, drags Kirk, McCoy, Uhura, Scotty, and Chekov to the Klingon Neutral Zone just as they are about to retire, to negotiate peace with Gorkon, the High Chancellor of the Klingon Empire. The final outing for the original crew sees the return of Nick Meyer to the directors chair in a triumphant allegory about the Cold War.
