In search of the U.S.S. Brattain, presumed lost for nearly a month, the crew of the Enterprise find the Miranda-class starship, its crew murdered and adrift in an unexplored binary star system with one survivor aboard, a Betazoid. Soon after, the crew begin to experience dreamless nights.
