Doctor Crusher has a brief fling with an ambassador from Trill until he is killed while leaving negotiations between two moons of the planet Peliar Zel. The doctor discovers a “parasite” while attempting to save Ambassador Odan’s life only to learn that Odan is the parasite is a “symbiont,” and the body is simple “the host.” In order to save the symbiont, the doctor temporarily implants it into the ship’s first officer.
