In 1994 Star Trek: The Next Generation made the leap from the small screen to the silver screen. Over eight years and four films, the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise continued to explore the final frontier. I’ve maintained the studio references to the number sequencing for my episode numbers. While I recommend watching all four, only three of them are essential, with one in particular being noted as one of the best entries of the Star Trek films (First Contact).
All films are listed for each season. Each film is indicated with either a “W” for watch or an “S” for skip. I also opted to order my viewing in “chronological order” as best determined by the initial stardate given in the film. If there isn’t a stardate, it was placed in release date order. Eventually, each title will link to a post that discusses the reasoning for seeing a film and skipping film.
Lastly, films that are “essential” are indicated with an * in the Ep. No. column. Essential films are selected on a number of factors including character development, other cannon connections, and cultural impact. In other words, these often are best of the best of the films.
| Ep. No. | Title | Stardate | See/Skip |
|---|---|---|---|
| VII* | Generations | 48632.2 | W |
| VIII* | First Contact | 50893.5 | W |
| IX | Insurrection | Unknown | S |
| X* | Nemesis | 56844.9 | S |
